PERSONAL TRAINERS. Do you really need them?

Having goals at the start of every year, or trying something new that you have seen on social media, is great, but where do you start?

There really is only so much you can learn from the internet without the background knowledge of fitness and how the body physiologically functions. We also tend to forget about daily stress from everyday living and mentally not being able to convince yourself that a home workout is what you need to clear your mind.

Setting goals needs to be as realistic as possible, and it is highly recommended to use the SMART Goal technique. This is a worldwide tool that majority of Personal Trainers use.

S – Specific

M – Measuarable

A – Achievable

R – Relevant

T – Time-based

Goals need to be specific in order to have a clear vision of where you are going. This is when your Personal Trainer will have a meaningful conversation with you and figure out your reasons why.

When setting goals, it is vital to ensure you measure these goals along the way. Depending on the goals, you can do this by use of callipers, tap measures, or body fat scales that send impulses through the body to measure resistance within the body. This can be challenging and sometimes demotivating as you are putting in the work, however not seeing the numbers. This is where a Personal Trainer will step in and assist in new methods to ensure the goals are being reached.

Trainers will also be able to set goals in place that is attainable to your lifestyle. This means that your goal will be realistic and something that is possible to achieve in the given time frame. This is where the motivation from your Personal Trainer will encourage you to stay on track.

When setting out goals, they need to be relevant, and when they are relevant, they need to meet your short term as well as long term goals. If they are worthwhile and you are able to visualise these goals, you are already on the right track to success!

Everyone wants to reach their goals as quick as possible. By having a Personal Trainer with you through your training sessions, you are able to reach your goals by a set date.
