FAQS

Yes, EMS is for everyone. But like with all exercise routines, there are some medical conditions that are not recommended to complete EMS training. These conditions include epilepsy, artificial cardiac pacemaker, pregnancy, severe circulatory disorders, diabetes, febrile diseases, acute bacterial or viral processes, bleedings, haemophilia, liver diseases, or those with wounds, inflammations, burns, irritations, eczemas in electrode area. Ask our trainers if you are unsure.

Depending on the type of injury and severity, EMS training can be regulated around the injured area to assist in improving circulation as well as avoiding any additional pressure. EMS whole-body training has been developed to improve daily functional movements and increase range of motion in all planes. Every training session is with a qualified Personal Trainer, who will alter the sessions to fit your personal needs.

Before your first session make sure you have had a meal and plenty of water that day. The first time wearing the suit you will experience a vibrating/tingly sensation. Most of our clients first reaction to wearing the suit is laughter. You get use to the sensation and some clients start to see results with as little as three sessions.

EMS training is a high intensity training program which is focused on the depletion of glycogen stores in the muscle. In order to benefit from this training, you will be required to consume a healthy eating regimen consisting of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. This will assist in the recovery from an EMS training session. It is recommended to include light to moderate cardiovascular training as well as full body stretching.

EMS contracts 90% of your muscles at once. It also stimulates the more difficult muscles that aren’t engaged during regular training. This can’t be obtained with ordinary weight training.

No, EMS does not hurt. The impulses that are used in EMS training are mild and have the same sensation as a normal muscle contraction. However, if you feel uncomfortable, the intensity level can be altered to your preference. Over training of EMS can lead to Rhabdomyolysis, a condition that is a result from elevated Creatine Kinase (CK) levels. This is a condition that is not exclusive to EMS training and has been seen in elite athletes from over training their muscles.

If you have any contraindications mentioned in the first point, you will unfortunately not be able to participate in EMS training.
